Traditional Worship

A traditional service that includes scripture readings, a sermon message and hymns and spiritual songs accompanied by our pipe organ. Often there is special music by our choir or bell choir. The order of the service generally comes from our hymnals "Lutheran Worship" or "The Lutheran Hymnal". We include the Lord's Supper on the first and third Sundays.
   "Grace Alive" Contemporary Worship
Grace Alive is worship with a contemporary feel. Modern Christian songs are accompanied by keyboard, guitar, and drums. The worship is also enhanced by the use of technology such as Power Point, DVDs, video clips and the like. The same timeless message of our God and His love for us is shared a fresh contemporary format. The Lord's Supper is served on the first and third Sundays of the month.
   Christian Education
We have Sunday School for children pre-k through grade six and Bible Classes for Jr. High and Sr. High Youth at 10:10am. There is also an Adult Bible Class taught by the Pastor at 10:10am. In addition to Biblical topics this class covers other theological topics as well as the spiritual aspects of current world events.
   The Worship Service
The people of Grace Church want you to feel relaxed and comfortable during our worship services. We hope that you find your participation in our services to be a blessing.
Come as you are -- there's no dress code. You'll see men and women wearing jeans or shorts, business suits, and everything in between.
Children of all ages are welcome in the services.
As you enter the sanctuary (where the service is held) an usher will hand you a worship folder. Inside you will find the order of the service for the day as well as information about the church's many activities. The usher will also have children's activity sheets if you would find them helpful. The usher will gladly answer any questions you may have.
You can sit anywhere you feel comfortable.
On Sundays, the service is projected on a screen up front. This makes it easy to follow what's going on -- just watch the screen! The service is also printed out in the worship folder. Before the service starts we project announcements about church activities. These are also available in the worship folder for reference at home.
If you are a visitor to Grace Church you will be greeted by the very friendly members of the church. We are honored when people choose to worship with us but we never ask visitors to stand up or identify themselves during a service.
We consider our visitors our guests. As such, we don't expect visitors to participate in the offering of our blessings back to the Lord. If you wish to make an offering we provide envelopes in the pew racks for your convenience.
Our worship services include the Lord's Supper (Communion) on the first and third Sundays. We request that you read the information in the worship folder regarding this practice before communing. If you prefer not to take the Lord's Supper, you may remain in your seat. Or you are welcome to come forward to the communion rail and recieve a blessing. You'll find more information about Communion in the worship folder.
If you have other questions, please feel free to ask anyone you see, or to contact the church before you come the first time.
   Parking & Entering
     Parking
We have a large parking lot on the east side of the building. It is next to the church on Verdin. You may also park across from the church entrance in the Walgreen's lot in the row of spaces that face the church.
There are two doors you can come in. Both will get you into the worship service easily.
     Entering
Main entrance to church: This is on Boudinot it leads to the back of the sanctuary (where the worship service is held).
Barrier-free entrance: At the Verdin entrance of the building (Double glass doors on Verdin). No steps to negotiate if you take the elevator inside the door.
West door: From the Boudinot parking lot -- the door with the cross signs on it. Leads to the stairs by the Ministry offices. If you are coming to see a staff member, this is the best door to use because it has a buzzer. It is not open on Sundays.
   Getting Around the Building
The sanctuary, where worship services are held, is on the second floor. You can enter the back of the sanctuary through the double doors in the lobby (narthex).
For activities other than worship, there is a classroom on the lower level, the 1st and 2nd grade classroom is on the main level and the Media Center is on the third floor. The nursery, gymnasium, kitchen, and Lunch Room are in the basement (lower level). The Braille room is also located in the lower level of the building. The Pastor's and Secretary's offices are located on the second floor off the Boudinot entrance. The Conference Room is just off the lobby and that is where Bible class is typically held. Sunday School meets on the lower level.
Restrooms: There is one restroom off the church lobby on the second floor, next to the Conference Room. It is wheelchair-accessible. Other men's and women's restrooms are in the basement (lower level) (downstairs and to your right).
There is an elevator inside the Verdin street door.
Other buildings include the Heitner Building and the Teschler Building.
